This project is executed on behalf of Fitzwilliam museum’s request to be screened in Made in Ancient Egypt exhibition.
Description
Like many people in the ancient world, few colours held as much significance for the Egyptians as deep, vibrant blue. But real lapis lazuli, imported from Afghanistan, was rare and expensive. So, to create a substitute the ancient Egyptians developed a cutting-edge technology, which today we call faience. Faience-making dates back over 5,000 years. Mohamad Soudy is one of the only people left in Egypt who makes faience using the ancient methods.
